Sorprendía que, tantas semanas antes, ya se hubiera filtrado que el colegiado para dirigir el partido del siglo sería Alejandro Hernández Hernández. Sorprendía, todavía más, que la Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) designase, por tercer año consecutivo, el mismo colegiado para el Barça-Madrid liguero.
